Refine the methodology and associated platforms (IPESE Osmose tool and EPOS IS toolbox) to determine cluster opportunities and their economic and sustainability profiles

Objectives

Energy & resource integration study of a large port area in Europe: collection, validation and mapping of energy and resource data, assessment of improvement options and suggestion of industrial symbiosis (IS) solutions. Refine the methodology and associated platforms (IPESE Osmose tool and EPOS IS toolbox) to determine cluster opportunities and their economic and sustainability profiles.

 
Perspectives
  • Determine the energy and resource profile of the local industrial sites: establish the baseline for clustering in the port area.
  • Use and improve the EPOS IS toolbox, starting from the Osmose tool, to define cluster opportunities (energy, utilities, waste streams, water, services, …).
  • Substantiate and prioritize minimum investment / maximum yield solutions for port area optimization, primarily focusing on industrial symbiosis.

Practical information

The IPESE laboratory is located in the Sion EPFL campus. Travels from Lausanne to Sion are compensated by EPFL.
