Energy Integration in Petrochemicals and Refining

The aim of this work is to carry out applied research within the petrochemical and refining industries in order to bring about a systematic methodology for implementing energy saving measures using energy integration techniques in these industries. Energy consumption is strongly correlated to greenhouse gas emissions; therefore, savings reduce industry impacts as well as costs.

The applied research takes place with an industrial partner. Energy integration and good housekeeping energy saving techniques are applied to the mentioned industries. To do this, the particularities of these industries must be considered including their engineering and financial practises. This project focuses on the energy delivery mechanisms rather than the study of the chemical interactions of the processes themselves.
